'ADP 2011-12 will be harmonised as per aspiration of the people'

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the next Annual Development Programme (ADP) will be harmonised as per aspirations of the people in the light of these proposals. He expressed these views while addressing a meeting, which held here Saturday to review proposals with regard to fixing the priorities of ADP 2011-12 and achievement of targets of ADP 2010-11, disclosed an official.
Senator Ishaq Dar, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Members National and provincial Assemblies, Chief Secretary, Chairman Planning and Development and Secretaries of various departments as well as senior officers attended the meeting.
While lauding the proposals of the participants, the Chief Minister said service to the people is our duty, and thus the members of the committees constituted in connection with ADP should actively participate in the meetings and put forth-solid proposals bearing far reaching results.
According to him, the Punjab government is using all resources of the province for the welfare of the masses and despite the devastation of worst ever flood of the history, no cut was made in the funds allocated for schemes with regard to providing education, health and other basic amenities during the current financial year.
All resources will also be utilised for provision of infrastructure, education, health and other facilities to the people in the province during next year. Solid steps will be taken for bringing the backward and less-developed areas at par with the developed areas of the province.
The government is importing mobile health units for ensuring provision of modern health facilities to the people at their doorstep. Six mobile health units have started providing medical facilities in the flood-hit areas and a large number of people are being benefited from these units, whereas mobile health unit will be provided in each tehsil under a phased programme. Twenty more mobile health units will be imported during current year, whereas 30 mobile health units will be imported during next year.
Besides free medicines and dialysis in government hospitals, new hospitals and medical colleges are also being established. Besides health facilities, special attention has also been paid to the provision of education, infrastructure, safe drinking water and other basic facilities to the people.
Provision of clean drinking water is of great importance for protecting the people from diseases; therefore concerned department should evolve a solid strategy with regard to water supply schemes for providing potable water to the people. Sub-committees regarding education, health, infrastructure, agriculture and land were constituted in the meeting, which will present their recommendations for evolving a concrete course of action in connection with next ADP," he added.
Informing about the details of his visit to China, Shahbaz Sharif disclosed that during his visit to China, agreements of co-operation in 120 megawatt Taunsa Power Project, 50 megawatt Solar Power Project, agriculture, livestock and other sectors were signed, and useful dialogues were held with the leadership of Communist Party, prominent personalities and representatives of corporate sectors.
He said China has become the big power of the world due to the hard work, devotion, dedication and honesty of Chinese nation and its economy is progressing rapidly. "We can also make progress speedily by benefiting from the technology of China." An agreement of hydropower has been made with the largest Chinese company. Three Gorges and the work on this project will be started this year.
Dialogues with regard to co-operation in projects of Lahore and Rawalpindi Ring Roads were held and an agreement has been made regarding Lahore Mass Transit Project. Meanwhile, the parliamentarians presented their suggestions with regard to development projects for next financial year in the meeting.
Planning and Development Chairman informed the meeting about the implementation of development schemes during current financial year. Secretaries Education, Housing, Higher Education and Health gave detailed briefing with regard to future course of action and ongoing development schemes in their respective departments.
