Officials deputed to work in oil, gas companies to be relieved

The Ministry of Petroleum (MoP) has decided to relieve all deputationists currently working in public sector oil and gas companies, and sent a directive on Saturday to the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC) to this effect, Business Recorder has learnt.
The Ministry has also directed OGDC to sack those officials in OGDC who are over 60 years of age. In OGDC, three officials are currently working on key positions as deputationist. OGDC Managing Director (MD) Naeem Malik is also on deputation, and the Ministry of Petroleum had recently announced to appoint him as Additional Secretary in the Ministry. Executive Director (ED) Human Resource (HR) Arif Ibrahim and Mureed Hussain Rahimoo, General Manager Administration are also on deputation.
Arif Abrahim has been working as Joint Secretary Admin before deputation in the company. According to sources, he has not finalised terms and conditions with the company as he wanted amendment in deputation policy to get salary equal to other EDs who are working on contract.
Mureed Hussain Rahimoo has reportedly political clout and was drawing salary equal to regular GM of OGDC, in violation of company's rules. The company rules allow 20 percent additional allowance in addition to salary being received in parent organisation but he is drawing around Rs 0.4 million per month. His case was also taken up by National Assembly Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Resources and he was transferred from the post of GM HR to GM Admin. But he is still drawing around Rs 0.4 million per month salary.
In Sui Southern Gas Company Limited, two officials are working on deputation. Spokesman SSGC Zaheer Sadiqui confirmed two officials on deputation in the company including one General Manager Audit who has been recently posted. "We have received no directions yet to surrender deputationists," he maintained. Some officials are also working in other public sector organisations in oil and gas sectors who would be sent back to their parent ministries and departments.
