Finalising power load management plan: Gilani asks minister to take all stakeholders on board

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said on Friday that increase in energy demand was the manifestation of enhanced economic activities in the country. He said that the government was taking measures to bridge the demand and supply gap of power. He said that many foreign companies are interested in investing in power sector in Pakistan due to the government''s investor-friendly policies.
The Prime Minister expressed these views while talking to Naveed Qamar, Minister for Water and Power, who called on him at PM House. Gilani asked the Naveed to devise methods to explore alternative energy sources to meet future energy needs. He stressed the need to consult respective organisations of the developed countries to share their experiences. He stressed for formulating policies to augment public-private partnership and improved investment in energy sector.
The Prime Minister asked Qamar to take all stakeholders on board to finalise load management plan for this summer. Referring to the compensation money to be paid to the affected persons in Diamir-Bhasha area, he asked the Minister to look into the matter and resolve the issue amicably in consultation with the stakeholders from Chilas and Diamir. Naveed Qamar apprised the Prime Minister about various projects initiated by the Ministry. He also discussed with him the ongoing schemes in his constituency.
