Pakistan Flour Mills Association (PFMA), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has demanded abolition of charges in electricity bills, charged in the name of 'peak consumption time'. They also demanded procurement of one million tons wheat to meet the requirement of the province and compensation of flourmills for losses incurred due to the floods last year.
The demands were made in an emergency meeting of the association here with provincial Chairman, Haji Sartaj Ali Khan in the chair. Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Chairman PFMA, Haji Sartaj Ali Khan termed charging of extra-amount in electricity bills in the name of the peak time a sheer injustice with the industries. He said that this unjustified step of Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco) is inflicting heavy losses on the flourmills.
He said that the amount is charged at a time when the mills remain close due to load-shedding. The meeting decided to move Peshawar High Court against this illegal act of the Pesco. Addressing the meeting, former chairman PFMA, Mohammad Naeem Butt said that they have proposed increase in the target of the wheat procurement for the current season, saying production of bumper crop is expected.
