Security of motherland: 'Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police's sacrifices to be written in golden words'

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ameer Haidar Khan Hoti has said that the sacrifices rendered by the martyred personnel of KP Police for the security of motherland, and brighter future and eradication of terrorism will be written in golden words. Their sacrifices for the country and nation are highly commendable and a source of honour for the nation, he added.
He expressed these views in his address during financial assistance distribution among the heirs of police personnel, from Peshawar, Kohat, Charsada, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, D.I Khan, Mardan and Sawabi, martyred in terror incidents during the last three months, here at chief minister's house on Monday.
Hoti said, "Unfortunately proper attention was not paid to effective steps against terrorism in the past and nation had to face its consequences. Police was deprived from modern weapons, suitable training and other facilities. "When our government was established three years ago, we developed the police force on modern lines beyond our resources.
Consequently, performance of KP police got better and received nation-wide applauds and it is now gallantly countering enemies to Islam and humanity." He further said the police jawans are rendering sacrifices of their lives for safety to life and property of the people that earned them good name and dignity. He said sacrifices of the police martyred can not be recompensed and the Martyrs Package will grow greater with increase in the resources.
He pointed out that earlier, police martyrs were offered only rupees 0.5 million as compensation but our government gradually increased it to rupees one million, Rs 1.5 million and now rupees three million. Besides financial assistance, facilities of free education to children of police martyred, residence, and payment of salaries till retirement age have also been approved, he maintained.
The chief minister also said government is also providing residential plots to the heirs of martyrs, while in case of unavailability of plots in concerned areas, it is offering cash in return to enable them buy plots on their own. Earlier, in his welcome address, Inspector General of Police, Fayaz Khan Toru highlighted the issue of compensation to heirs of martyrs and said that increase in number in a short time reflects police commitment, bravery and professional diligence in the struggle against terrorism.
He said that today, increase in dignity of police is all due to their remarkable sacrifices. He further said the police achieved noticeable successes in controlling other crimes along with achievements in the war against terrorism, saying incidents of abduction have been controlled to a greater extent. Elaborating further, IGP said during the current year, 138 groups of terrorists, abductors, car lifters and bandits have been busted while 129 wanted criminals have been arrested and three were killed. He also cited police achievements in sports grounds.
