Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) has recently inaugurated a water purification plant at Korangi Sector 10 which is part of the company's resolve to implement social reforms and interventions for the prosperity and betterment of the city of Karachi and its residents. The plant with a capacity of 1000 gallons per hour will provide clean drinking water to a population of around 12,000 inhabitants.
The chief guest on the occasion was Member of the National Assembly Asif Husnain. Other dignitaries present on the occasion were Member of the Provincial Assembly, Khalid Iftikhar and Landhi Town Administator, Arshad Noman. The prominent guests who attended the event included Amer Zia, DCOO-III and Aamir Ali, President of the SOCH Foundation. KESC was represented by the members of the Marketing and Communication Department along with IBC KIMZ representatives. The ceremony was also attended by the Volunteers of the Women Empowerment Community Group.
Korangi-10 - a new sector in Korangi and going through development phase - with around fifty percent of the area still under construction, has nearly 2,200 houses. This area poses a serious energy loss issue for KESC due to the high number of illegal electricity connections. Despite these odds, KESC specifically undertook this project as a goodwill gesture with the aim to create awareness on power theft and curtailing and encouraging people of the community to step up and address this issue collectively. Speaking on the occasion MNA Asif Husnain appreciated KESC's efforts and achievements in their area and said that KESC's involvement would indeed be beneficial for both the parties.-PR
