Dawood Capital Management Ltd, managers of Ladiesfund announced the 3rd Ladies fund Women's Awards held at Mohatta Palace Museum where 150 of the most dynamic and inspiring women in Pakistan attended the ceremony. The chief guests of the occasion were Dr Anita Ghulam Ali, Ladiesfund Lifetime Achievement Award Winner and Shafqat Sultana, President First Women Bank Ltd.
The ceremony was hosted by Tara Uzra Dawood, Chief Executive Officer Dawood Capital Management Ltd. Presentations were given by Babyfund Avari Espresso Drive Donation to the Citizen Foundation and Fellowships and Scholarships. Introduction of 2011 Jury were presented followed by the presentation of Awards. Few words of appreciation were given by Dr Anita Ghulam Ali. She said, "Remember when you are in a profession you must forget what your gender is". She also thanked the young women of Pakistan and encouraging them to participate in the innovative projects which strengthen their passion.
The 2011 Award categories were Lifetime Achievement (with consultation of judges), Woman of the year (People's Choice Award), Momentum (judged), trailblazer and idol (judged). This year, Ladiesfund is also introducing a Fellowship and Scholarship through Dawood Global Foundation's initiatives for women uplift in Pakistan.
-- The Ladiesfund Nadira Hyder Zaidi Scholarship was presented to Hafsa Idrees, a student of English Literature at Karachi University.
-- The Ladiesfund Mishal Fellowship was presented to Arshia Khursheed of Bhawalpur.
-- The Ladiesfund Idol Award was presented to Naseem Hameed, fastest runner in South Asia.
-- The Ladiesfund Trailblazer Award was presented to Rabia Gareeb for her innovative work at CIO Pakistan.
-- The Ladiesfund Momentum Award was presented to Rehana Hakim one of the core team of journalists that helped star the highly respect Newsline Magazine.
-- The Ladiesfund Judges (Ameena Saiyid, Barrister Shahida Jamil, Nilofer Saeed, Sameera Raja and Shamaine Faruque).
Among the 5 nominations for the People's Choice Award ie 1.Pakistan Women's Cricket Team (for winning World Cup) (sports). 2 - Sherry Rehman (for her contributions to media). 3 - Asma Jehangir (for becoming President of the Supreme Court Bar Association) (law). 4 - Kamila Shamsie (for bringing international acclaim to Pakistan for "Burnt Shadows") (arts and culture) and 5 - Bilquis Edhi (for her protection of disposed children) (humanity). The winner was Pakistan Women's Cricket Team. Closing remarks were given by Tara Uzra Dawood.-PR
