Federal government should take concrete measures to rein in the recent price hike, overcome the deteriorating law and order situation to endorse foreign investment and provide business community a better atmosphere, said Ali Raza Saeed Shah, President Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) here on Monday.
The prices rise over 120 percent during the last three-year. Owing to deteriorating law and order situation foreign investment in the country had been reduced to dead level and energy crisis had also been raised and government mulling to announce two days holiday in a week, Ali Raza said in an emergent meeting of RCCI former Presidents here on Monday.
Senior Vice President Mian Muhammad Ateeq, Vice President Dr Shimail Daud, former Presidents, Sabir Hussain But, Najamul Haq Malik, Sohail Altaf, Sheikh Shabbir, Shabir Ahmed Khan, Dr Hassan Sarrosh Akram, Najam Rehan, Raouf Chaudhary, Asad Mashadi and Kashif Shabbir were also present on the occasion.
RCCI President suggested the government to ensure that banks and other financial institutes must remained open in case of weekly two holidays to promote the business activities in the country. "We, as stakeholder, suggest government that banks should remain open during the holidays to avoid affecting the business activities in the country", he said.
He said that government was trying to impose new tax to overcome budget deficit, which was not acceptable for the business community in the prevailing situation. Government should reduce its expenses and decrease the tax ratio to broaden the tax net, he added. He said that business community will support the positive stance of the government, but government must take on board the said community in the policy making process.
