Chairman of Intellectual Property Organisation (IPO), Hameedullah Jan Afridi has said that all new innovations, businesses, trademarks and patents should be protected under the legal cover of IPO laws, which will enable them secure their generic names and conceptions.
He stated this while presiding a meeting of the organising committee of IPO International Day activities to be held in Islamabad on April 26, said a press release issued on Sunday.
Afridi said that a co-ordinated series of activities have been planned to raise awareness about the importance of IPO and the benefits of its implication. He said it has been proven that economy of the countries flourished where IP laws are strictly abided and developing counties can boost their economy by checking illegal practices of commercial enterprises.
He asked the members to make all arrangements in a befitting manner by associating stakeholders, experts and representatives of associations so that the International IP Day could be celebrated with the pledge for established a piracy free society. He added that people from cross sections of society would be invited to participate in IP Day activities. The meeting was attended by Director Administration, Human Resource and Chairman Organising Committee, Meesaq Arif, Director Finance Inam-ul-Haq, Chaduhry Asfand Ali and others.
