The new security and crime control plan of the Islamabad Police have started yielding fruits as Capital Police have busted 15 gangs of dacoits and land and house grabbers, while drug pushers and bootleggers were also taken to task. However, the increasing incidents of street crime, car lifting and theft still remain the matter of concern in the Capital.
The data collected by Business Recorder from 14 police stations of the capital, 15 gangs of criminals involved in dacoities were busted during the week. A total of 120 incidents of streets crimes were recorded in Federal Capital during the week in which people were deprived of vehicles, cell-phones, cash, computers, gold ornaments and other valuables.
Capital Police succeeded in detaining 102 outlaws including 15 women for their alleged involvement in crimes like, dacoity, theft, car lifting, highway robberies, prostitution, drug pushing, bootlegging and possession of illegal arms.
Police have also held over 150 suspected persons during crackdown, who have failed to produce any identification papers, while 25 beggars were also arrested during the week. During the incidents of car lifting and snatching people of Islamabad were deprived of 15 vehicles and eight motorcycles while Capital Police have recovered nine cars, one pick up and seven motorcycles from different areas.
The data revealed that the vehicles stolen from Islamabad during the week were two Toyota Corolla, one Honda, one Cultus, one Khyber, two Suzuki FX, six Mehran, one Charade and one pick up. Eight motorcycles including 125 cc and 70cc were also stolen. Police have recovered huge quantity of arms including two Kalashnikov assault rifles, 24 pistols, one 7mm gun, two 12-bore guns, one 44 mm gun, three daggers and over two hundreds rounds of different caliber. During the week Islamabad Police have recovered 2.5 kg heroin, 6.5 kg charas and 350 bottles of liquor.
On Monday Shalimar Police succeeded in resolving a theft case and recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 2 million stolen from house of Maryam Fazal wife of Tariq Din of sector F-11/2 by two maids Rabia and Shazia. Shalimar Police held Riaz son of Ahmed Yar, Ahmed Yar son of Samandar Khan, Imdad Ullah son of Muhammad Nawaz, Jagde Khan son of Samandar Khan residents of district Chinniot. Two women Rabia and Shazia were also arrested.
Tarnol Police on Tuesday foiled two attempts of dacoities by timely action and arrested the main gangster and recovered looted items after a little chase. The Criminal Investigation Agency (CIA) of Islamabad Police on Wednesday have recovered two stolen cars and other commodities were recovered from the detainees who are being investigated.
Islamabad Police on Wednesday busted a gang of land and house grabbers after arrest of five members of the gang from Phulgran village in the jurisdiction of Bara Kahu Police. Five armed persons entered the house of Sharqeva Gulnara to occupy her house at Phulgran area. They kept watchman and driver in confinement and hurt the driver Rahim when he offered resistance.
