At least two persons were killed and 74 others injured in a piled up crash on National Highway in Bin Qasim Town here on Monday. The tragic incident that claimed two lives and injured 74 others occurred in the early Monday, when a passenger bus (PE3708) collided with a wrongly parked trailer (C-9980) in the out skirts of Karachi in Shah Latif Town.
Thereafter, three more heavy vehicles include a truck (JA0860), NED and Steel Mill buses ran into the wrecks of collided vehicles one after another, suspending traffic on National Highway for hours. Police and rescue teams rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to 100 bed-hospital and later moved to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) for treatment.
The dead, who were identified as Jamil Ahmed 30, driver of a truck and Fazl Rahim conductor of passenger bus, were shifted to JPMC. The injured who were identified as Abdul Aziz, 40, Khattak, 35, Gulab, 28, Abdul Habib, 42, Shaikh Mohd, 35, Rizwan, 30, Ghulam Rasool, 36, Kareem, 37, Rasool, 38, Qurban Ali, 39, Noor Mohammed,40, Khatija Khatoon, 41, Abdul Hameed, 43, Abdul Malik, 45, Farhan, 46, Aziz Gul, 47, Adil Khan, 48, Sadiq, 49, Mir Buksh, 50, Anjum, 51, Ms Noori, 52, Ms Maria, 54, Akbar, 55, Ms Fauzia, 56, Aamir, 57, Habib Naz, 58, Fida, 59, Zubair, 60, Farman, 61, Umair, 62, Abdul Rehman, 63, Ms Sahiba, 64, Kulsoom, 67, Hafizur Rehman, 68, Gulzar, 70, Mushtaq, 71, Tahir, 72, Samir, 20, A Hamid, 60, Rehan, 25, Sajid Hasan, Saleem, Yaseen, Sheikh, Azizullah, Riyaz, Irshad, Azhar Ali, Zahid Haider Ali, Idres, Aslam, Hidayat, Noor Hasan, Ms Afshan and others. According to hospital sources, most of the injured sustained bone fractures in leg and hand and head injuries.
The bus of NED University of Engineering and Technology, which was carrying students to the Campus from Gulshan-i-Hadeed, collided with the Steel Mills bus, wherein four female students and driver of the bus were injured, an NED official said. He said that over 50 students were on board the NED University bus and many of the students received bruises and were given first aid. Four NED University female students and the bus driver with fractures have been hospitalised and their condition is stable, he added.
