Ambassador of Federal Republic of Germany to Pakistan, Dr Michael Koch has said that resources and channels are being mobilised for enhancing bilateral trade between Germany and Pakistan. Addressing the members of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), here on Monday, he said that increase in bilateral trade volume in all the areas is in the best interest of both the countries.
Germany is the second biggest economic partner of Pakistan and volume of mutual trade between Germany and Pakistan is US two billion dollars. Dr Koch further said that initial work on Free Trade Agreement between Germany and Pakistan would be initiated but will take time due to its lengthy process. We are working on giving better and liberal access including GSP plus to Pakistani products in German market and it will be ensured after accomplishment of the process, he added.
In his welcome address, President SCCI, Ghulam Mustafa Choudary said that there is a great potential for setting up joint venture and business co-operation between Germany and Sialkot based companies, especially in the field of sports goods, surgical instruments and leather product. To make all of this possible, it is essential that the visa facility for businessmen and export house be made easily available, he stressed.
