Telecoms gear producer Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) plans to set up a joint venture with Russian company Mikran to develop equipment for next-generation technology mobile networks.
NSN, owned by Finland's Nokia and Germany's Siemens, signed an agreement on last Monday setting up a development centre in a special economic zone in the Siberian town of Tomsk, the zone's managing company said in a statement.
The venture will develop base stations for LTE (long-term evolution) mobile broadband networks, for sale in Russia and abroad, the statement said. The policy has been particularly targeted in the car and pharmaceutical industries.
