Thousands in Armenia rally against government

Thousands of opposition protesters rallied in the capital of ex-Soviet Armenia on Thursday to demand the government's resignation, an AFP correspondent reported. Opposition leaders said they were hoping to emulate the Arab world uprising, but the ruling party has said it will not submit to ultimatums.
Armenian civil rights groups accused the authorities of blocking roads and disrupting public transport in the provinces to prevent people from attending the demonstration, although officials have denied this.
