Copper prices posted their biggest one-day gain in 2-1/2 weeks on Wednesday as investors sought value from Tuesday's three-month low, but gains were fragile due to the uncertain economic impact from Japan's nuclear crisis. May copper on the New York Mercantile Exchange jumped 6.05 cents to finish at $4.1975 per lb, after dealing between $4.17 and $4.27.
