'Sindh contributes 67 percent revenue to national exchequer'

Sindh Health Minister, Dr Sagheer Ahmed has said that Sindh contributes 67 percent revenue to the country and that Karachi's share in it is 62 percent. He said that Muttahida Qaumi Movement, while representing the people has informed the PPP leadership about its reservations regarding the law and order situation in Karachi. He was talking to the media-men after inaugurating emergency ward and intensive care unit at Shah Bhitai Hospital Latifabad, Hyderabad last night.
Dr Saghair said that Karachi is an economical hub of the country but kidnapping of businessmen and extortion has become a routine since a couple of months, which is badly affecting the economical activities of the country. He stressed that criminal elements should not be given space in political parties.
To a question, the minister said that efforts are being made to resolve the promotion and other issues of doctors on priority basis. He informed that as soon as funds would be provided, Trauma Centre and Nazir Hussain Hospital would be made functional by posting necessary staff there.
Earlier addressing the ceremony as the chief guest, the minister informed that the project of setting up emergency ward and ICU were taken into hand with an initial amount of rupees 10 million provided by Tayyab Hussain from his MNA fund, while Rs 10 million were given by Hyderabad government. He thanked Turkish Government for donating machinery and equipment worth Rs 20 million for the hospital.
He informed that the process of getting the hospital affiliated with LUMHS is near completion. He added that after getting the affiliation, faculty of LUMHS would pay visits to the hospital on regular basis. On the occasion, Medical Superintendent of Government Shah Bhittai Hospital, Dr Iftekhar Ahmed gave briefing about the performances of the hospital. MNA Tayyab Hussain and District Co-ordination Officer Hyderabad also spoke on the occasion.
