Punjab Provincial Co-operative Bank Ltd has extended last date of loans for Kharif crops 2011 till March 15, Registrar PPCBL Mohammad Khan Khichi said here on Tuesday. The PPCBL management has instructed the field staff to complete issuance of targeted loans by 15th March so that maximum number of small farmers could take benefit of the co-operative banks' liberal loans.
Khichi said the PPCBL advanced Rs 2.35 billion as loans to over 94,000 small farmers through the 12,250 registered co-operative societies in the province till 28th February 2011 for sowing, growing and maturing the Rabi crops, including wheat, oil seeds, lentals, grams, sunflower, vegetables, fodder, maize etc.
He said the bank has recovered Rs 2.21 billion from the farmers till last month which is 96.42 percent of the total loans advanced for the Kharif crops 2010, including cotton, rice, sugarcane etc. The PPCBL management has instructed the field staff to complete issuance of loans by 15th March so that maximum number of small farmers could take benefit of the co-operative banks' liberal loans.
