President Asif Ali Zardari Tuesday urged for taking Pak-Tajik bilateral co-operation to new heights with focus on trade and investment, infrastructure development and increased road, rail and air connectivity between the two countries.
The President said this while addressing on the occasion of foundation stone laying ceremony of embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in Islamabad. President said that Pakistan and Tajikistan enjoy deep rooted bonds of brotherhood and friendship with common history, common culture and traditions besides common heroes and literature, Spokesperson to the President Farhatullah Babar said while briefing newsmen.
"The current visit of President Rahmon is a true reflection of our strong bilateral relations," he said. The spokesperson said that the President while commenting on the government's efforts for regional stability said that Pakistan desires to cooperate closely to promote stability, peace and prosperity in the region and will support all such initiatives.
He said that we are keen to strengthen infrastructure and energy connectivity and further promote trade and economic co-operation with Tajikistan. The President expressed the hope that the on-going visit of President Emomali Rahmon will give further impetus to the already existing close co-operation between the two countries in various fields to the mutual benefit.
The Spokesperson said that the President expressed great pleasure in joining President Emomali Rahmon on the occasion of foundation stone laying ceremony of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in Islamabad and said that the Tajik's government to construct its own embassy Complex in Islamabad was a true reflection of close friendship between our two countries. "Our two countries share the same aspirations and objectives", he said. The President wished early completion of this excellent project of Tajik Embassy Complex and assured all out support of the Pakistan government in its early completion.-PR
