Decision on judges' appointment: Parliamentary body to hold deliberation on March 9

The Parliamentary Committee on Judges' Appointment would meet on Wednesday to hold deliberation on the annulment of its decision by the Supreme Court regarding the rejection of extension in the services of six judges of high courts, it was learnt reliably.
Sources told Business Recorder on Monday that the parliamentary committee could recommend to the president not to notify the extension in the services of the judges of the high court. They said that chairman of the parliamentary committee, Syed Nayyar Hussain Bokhari along-with its members would hold deliberations on the apex court's verdict in the light of the interim order on the 18th constitutional amendment.
The sources said that the parliamentary committee has decided to fully defend its earlier decision of rejection of extension in services of the six judges of the high courts. These are, namely, two additional judges of Sindh High Court-Justice Mohammad Tasneem and Justice Salman Hamid and four additional judges of Lahore High Court-Justice Muhammad Yawar Ali, Justice Syed Mazhar Ali Akbar Naqvi, Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh and Justice Muhammad Farrukh Irfan Khan.
The apex court on Friday granted extension in the services of the judges by dismissing the decision of parliamentary judges in the committee and also directed the government to issue appointment notifications in accordance with the judicial commission's recommendations.
