The gas shortage problem is purely a economic issue and political parties and their leaders should not sabotage it for their own political motives, said Muhammad Saeed Sheikh, Regional Chairman, All-Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association (APTPMA). He was commenting on a statement of Jahangir Badar, Secretary General, Pakistan Peoples Party.
Sheikh said political and economic issues have their own complications as well as benefits but we have to segregate them in view of their chemistry. He added that Faisalabad is the hub of textile industry and its economy is directly related with the sector. If any issue relating to the sector emerges, its stakeholders will definitely react, he added.
He reminded that the industrialists of Lahore had also been protesting on the issue of gas shortage, adding that now it is their turn to raise voice against the decision, which is adversely affecting the textile sector. APTPMA regional chairman warned that industrialists could again give a call for a long march to Islamabad if the gas issue is not resolved on permanent basis.
