Sindh Home Minister, Dr Zulfiqar Mirza on Sunday declared People's Amn Committee (PAC) as Pakistan People's Party's (PPP) wing, saying "if all members of PAC are criminals then I am too," Aaj News reported. The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) strongly reacted to the statement, saying it might consider of quitting the provincial coalition government.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion of death anniversary of Abdullah Murad here, Mirza said: "I announce that PAC is PPP's wing and if all of its members are criminals, then I am one of them."
He said, "if PAC bleeds, PPP will bleed too. The members of PAC are our brothers and children ...... they are the soldiers of PPP."
"We are also humans and not divine and we try to show our children the right path when they make mistakes, but don't slit their throats," he said in his roaring voice.
The Home Minister said Abdullah Murad Baloch was murdered for raising voice for a just cause. Meanwhile, strongly reacting to the statement, MQM Rabita Committee' members warned that MQM might quit the provincial government.
In a joint statement, MQM members Rabita Committee Muhammad Anwar, Anis advocate and Muhammad Ashfaque said MQM has always stated the so-called PAC was criminal in nature and had support from a number of ministers, but the government always ignored their concerns.
They said that the now cat was out of the bag with the Home Minister acknowledgement of PAC as being PPP wing.
"Mirza accepted he is the custodian of PAC's criminals, who are involved in dacoities, gang war, killings and kidnapping for ransom," they added.
They said," with Zulfiqar Mirza's announcement to own the PAC, now the coalition with PPP is not in the national interest." They urged the MQM Rabita Committee to take immediate notice of Zulfiqar Mirza's statements and make a decision to quit the provincial government, the channel added.
