Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that supremacy of constitution and rule of law are essential to bring about socio-economic stability in the country and improve common man's plight.
Talking to a 6-member Pakistan Bar Council delegation led by SCBA President Asma Jahnagir here on Sunday, he said all the state institutions have an important role for peace and harmony in the society.
The Prime Minister said that unanimous stand by all the political parties paved the way for the passage of the constitutional amendments, election of the Prime Minister and passage of the NFC Award, adding that political harmony greatly helped in strengthening institutions and the same spirit is needed to confront challenges currently faced by the country.
"Country's youth specially Balochis will be provided equal economic opportunities so that they could play their effective role in national affairs", he stressed.
Gilani said that lawyers from Balochistan deserve special attention in order to ensure justice to the common man.
The Prime Minister announced that the federal government would provide financial assistance for lawyers' colony in Balochistan. He said that the government would ensure implementation of lawyers' five-percent quota in the government housing schemes, assuring that the government would take measures to resolve genuine problems of the legal fraternity across the country.
The Prime Minister said Pakistan should be appropriately represented in Human Rights Convention in Geneva this month and Pakistani delegation would be led by Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination Mian Raza Rabbani, who has been given the additional charge of the Ministry for Human Rights.
Earlier, the lawyers delegation apprised the prime Minister of the problems faced by the lawyyers community in the country The delegation also stressed the need of economic opportunities to the youth and discussed the human rights situation in the country.
