Chief of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman contacted Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on telephone on Saturday and invited his attention towards the protective embankments of the rivers in Dera Ismail Khan and adjoining areas. He asked the Prime Minister to direct the concerned authorities in this regard.
The Prime Minister assured Fazal-ur-Rehman that all possible resources would be used to improve and consolidate river embankments to avoid any human or physical loss in future. He directed the authorities concerned to take appropriate measures in co-ordination with the provincial government. The Prime Minister also directed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to make a comprehensive plan to avoid any flood situation in future. The funds earmarked by the World Bank may also be worked out in this regard, he instructed.
