Soybeans and wheat were sharply higher at the Chicago Board of Trade on Wednesday, but corn prices fell due to profit-taking as US and Brent crude oil fell from earlier highs, traders said. Wheat prices surged on surprise export demand and spread-related buying versus corn.
Soy, in turn, was bolstered by rain-imposed delays in the harvesting of soyabeans in Brazil. CBOT trends as of 10:15 am CST (1615 GMT) on Wednesday: May wheat up 15 cents at $8.25-1/4 per bushel. May corn down 1-1/2 cents at $7.34 per bushel. May soyabeans up 21 cents at $13.96-1/4 per bushel.
