Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Chief, Nawaz Sharif on Monday said that he would lead another 'long march'. Addressing a meeting with the PML-N activists hailing from Sukkur, Hyderabad and Mirpur Divisions at his Model Town residence on Monday, he expressed concerns over country's current economic situation. Nawaz said that presently they were dependent on foreign aid instead of relying and utilising their country's rich resources.
"If we want to get a dignified place in the comity of nations we will have to rely on our own resources," he said, adding, "Dignified nations never beg before others." He told his party workers that the PML-N had broken the begging bowl during its last tenure. Had the PML-N government was not removed unconstitutionally, the country's present situation would have changed today altogether, he said. "We would have no need of aid through Kerry Lugar Bill, if the country's affairs are streamlined and reliance is made on country's resources and vast potential," he said.
The PML-N leader also expressed serious concerns over poor governance and corruption in the country saying every year billions of rupees are plundered. Terming the restoration of judiciary a historic achievement, he said, "We need to work with missionary zeal to steer the country out of prevailing crisis and put it on the road to progress and prosperity." For the first time in civilised world, a dictator got judges arrested, he said. He added that restoration of judiciary with public support was a historic achievement.
The PML-N leader said that they would extend full support to government if it implemented PML-N's 10-point reforms agenda. He criticised the government for presenting guard of honour to Pervez Musharraf and said he (Musharraf) had violated the Constitution. "We were asked to give constitutional protection to Pervez Musharraf's unconstitutional acts," he added.
