Broken promises of Zardari-led government compelled to part ways with PPP: PML-N

Ahsan Iqbal, MNA and spokesperson PML-N, Sunday said that Zardari regime's broken promises and poor performance made it inevitable for PML-N to part ways from PPP in Punjab.
In a statement issued here, he said corruption, price hike, unemployment, and poverty have crossed all limits and are outcome of politics of patronage and mis-governance pursued by the federal government. He said PML-N went out of way to help the federal government in implementing the reform's agenda, which the country needs desperately and most urgently but unfortunately Zardari regime showed no seriousness and concern. As a result there was no option left with PML-N but to disengage with PPP.
He said that PML-N took the decision to part ways with a government that failed to take tangible steps for curbing corruption and implementing good governance agenda to serve the citizens through merit based public sector enterprises.
He further said the government could have easily passed "Accountability Commission Law" pending before the National Assembly for last two years to set up an independent and transparent accountability mechanism in the country to check corruption across the board with complete autonomy and effective powers.
Likewise, appointment of competent, clean, and credible CEOs for state enterprises like PIA, Steel Mills, Railways, PSO, NICL, OGDCL and others could be very easily initiated. There was no progress on expenditure cutting as Government of Punjab showed the way by trimming its structure and reducing the administrative costs by over Rs 6 billion, PML-N spokesman said.
He said, PML-N's 10 point agenda wasn't a partisan agenda but an agenda for economic stabilisation and rehabilitation. If the federal government had wholeheartedly accepted the agenda and shown its resolve to implement it, the federal government would have been its principle beneficiary.
He said PML-N has expressed its displeasure with Zardari regime for defaulting on the promises. PMLN hopes that this will force Zardari regime to reconsider its priorities and performance and still try to implement the reform agenda presented to it by PML-N because the country needs it badly, said Ahsan.
