The industrial sector has suffered huge production losses due to the load shedding being carried out by Karachi Electric Supply Company in the industrial areas of the city. The load shedding has created massive problems for the industrialists in meeting their export and local orders on time as eight-hour outage has diminished their pace of production.
Expressing their views, the industrialists said that it is very difficult for them to give actual estimate of the production losses because industries remain non-operative for eight hours and function normally rest of the time. They said that some of the units, which have their own generators, manage to remain operative. Still, losses are in millions of rupees, they maintained.
Chairman Korangi Association of Trade and Industry, Syed Johar Ali Qandhari has said that KESC has promised to improve power supply from Sunday. He hoped that the company will keep its promise and bail out the industry from the present crisis. Chairman Federal B Area Association of Trade and Industry, Mohammad Irfan said that the industries have suffered huge production losses in last few days, owing to four to eight-hour long load shedding by KESC. He said that KESC has now assured that power supply will normalise by Monday and that their will be no further load shedding in the industrial areas.
