The Karachi Port handled 120,863 tonnes of cargo including 67,699 tonnes of import cargo, 53,164 tonnes of export cargo and 6,463 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 67,699 tonnes comprised of 35,519 tonnes of containerised cargo and 2,054 tonnes of general cargo and 30,126 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 53,164 tonnes comprised of 31,340 tonnes of containerised cargo; 218 tonnes of general cargo; 20,806 tonnes of bulk cargo: 2,846 tonnes of cement; 15,370 tonnes of wheat; 2,590 tonnes of clinker and 800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Eight ships namely Chemway Gaia, Bunga Raya Dua, Endurance, Ocean Seagul, APL Amman, MOL Success, CSL Ride and Medi Shanghai with ethanol, containers, vehicles, general cargo, three container ships and clinker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Nine vessels viz Al-Wajba, Wan Hai-602, American Tern, Anke, Vil Atlantic, Al-Jaber-70, Ocean Seagul, MT Lahore and Pital Oka carrying four container ships, wheat, two general cargo ships, crude oil and chemicals respectively are currently at the berths. Two ships namely Wan Hai-602 and Dongbu Promy-1 carrying containers and chemicals respectively expected to sail on Tuesday, while three ships namely MT Lahore, Captapn-T and Marcampania with crude oil, wheat and containers respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday.
Four vessels viz Shamrock Venus, Al-Layyah, President Truman and Liberty Pride carrying ethanol, chemicals, containers and vehicles respectively due to arrive on Tuesday, while six vessels viz Rising OM, Rio Grand Express, Hanjin Berlin, HS Challenger, Kota Arif and Tycoon-II with naphtha, four container ships and rock phosphate respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.
