At least five persons including an activist of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) were killed in different incidents in the city here on Saturday. According to details, an activist of PPP was gunned down while a woman was injured in a targeted killing incident at Khuda Ki Basti in the limits of Surjani police station.
An activist of PPP, Naimat Ullah, 48, alias Mohan Bengali was targeted when he was on the way along with his relative Laiba, 25, on a motorcycle in sector 36 of Khuda Ki Basti on Lyari Express Way. Resultantly, Naimat received two bullets on his head and died on the spot while Laiba also sustained bullet wound in her abdomen and shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH).
Police said the victim was local leader of PPP PS-97 and used to run a cattle farm and an estate agency in the same area where he resided. No case was registered till filing of this report. Two bodies of youth were found in a Nullah situated at Jhangirabad in the limits of Rizvia police station. The identity of the victims, who were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for post-mortem, is yet to be ascertained.
Police said that the deceased might have been killed by poison and added that police registered a dual murder case against unidentified culprits. An old man was crushed to death near Jail Chowrangi in the precincts of Ferozabad police station. The victim, who was identified as Mohammad Bashir, 62, a resident of Gauhar Abad Gulshan Iqbal, was crushed to death by speedy vehicle when he was crossing the road near Jail Chowrangi. His body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for legal formalities.
In yet another incident, a man was electrocuted near Jam Sadiq Bridge in the remits of Korangi Industrial Area police station. The identity of victim is yet to be ascertained while police found his body on the wee hours of Saturday from Jam Sadiq Bridge. Police said the victim was electrocuted when he was trying to steal high-tension electric wire. His body was shifted to JPMC and later moved to Edhi Morgue for identification.
