'Pashto Literary Jirga' on February 17

The Directorate of Archaeology & Museums, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in collaboration with Sarhad Tourism Co-operation (STC), is going to arrange "Qalam Pashto Literary Jirga" on Thursday, February 17 at the historic and ancient Tehsil Gor Ghattree, Peshawar.The title of the literary gathering is "Revival of Gor Gathree Archaeological Complex as Culture Centre", said Dr Abdul Samad, Consultant Archaeology & Museum, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said that Director Archaeology & Museum, Saleh Mohammad Khan will be chief guest on the occasion, while Secretary Culture, Azam Khan would preside over the gathering. Different Pashto renowned and imminent poets, including Mehir Khalid would participate in the jirga. He also said that they would organise a Hindko literacy gathering in Peshawar on the same pattern.
The event, for which Pashtoon and Hindko speakers are to be taken onboard, is part of a campaign to attract and inspire the local youth about the decades old aesthetic work and Mughal emperors' signs at different ancient places in the city. The campaign was formally launched by Directorate of Archaeology & Museum, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa from Peshawar in a bid to draw attention towards the historic and ancient sites in the province.
In this connection, different lecture sessions were held at Tehsil Gor Gatree, in which a large number of students of various public and private sector educational institutions took part.
He said that the prime goal is to aware youth about the historic and decade-old historic sites in the province. He said that the campaign was initiated from Peshawar, which would be expanded to other districts of the province. Dr Abdul Samad said that they have planned to arrange a painting competition, in which colleges and university levels students will take part. A specific plan has been designed for the purpose, he added.-PR
