Central Information Secretary of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Omar Sarfraz Cheema has strongly condemned Fauzia Wahab's statement that Raymond Davis enjoys diplomatic immunity. He said that the statement is aimed at preparing ground for handing over of Raymond Davis to Washington just to save the looted money and assets of the leadership lying overseas.
She (Fauzia Wahab) has blatantly tried to misguide the nation because it has already been reported that Davis was given an official visa not a diplomatic one and he does not enjoy diplomatic immunity, he said. He further said Shah Mehmood Qureshi was punished because of his stand that diplomatic immunity could not be extended to Raymond Davis. Quershi kept the national interest foremost and took a principled stand, which was the need of the hour, but government's hostile attitude towards him after his removal from foreign ministry gives credence to the fact that it wants to hand over Davis to the US at all costs, he maintained.
Cheema clarified that though it has been decided that PTI will soon lead a long march, a specific date has yet to be decided after due consultation with the core committee of the party. He said that a section of the press has given an erroneous impression as if March 25, 2011 has been fixed as the date of long march, which is incorrect. Exact date of the long march will be announced shortly, he added.-PR
