'SU to establish links with industry, communities'

Vice Chancellor, University of Sindh, Professor Dr Nazir A. Mughal has said that the varsity will be establishing links with the industry and community and urged upon the faculty members to follow semester rules as a strong part of the community.
He was addressing SU faculty members at Shaikh Ayaz Auditorium of faculty of arts building of the varsity. The VC said time has come that scholars of the varsity think about parameters to raise the image of the varsity by delivering knowledge-based education. Why we are not among the top 10 varsities, not counted among the varsities of Asia and varsities established later are named among the top ones, he questioned. He said that SU is the best, it has a glorious history and its faculty and employees are hardworking but there is a dire need to pay serious attention to their responsibilities.
Professor Dr Mughal observed that academic reforms were finalised by the executive council in several meetings and approved by the syndicate but its feedback from teachers is not encouraging. He said that under academic reforms, a teacher should take four credit hours and dedicate 10 hours a week for the guidance of students. He also said teachers should put the schedule in front of their offices to guide students.
He also expressed great concerns on the delay of evolution and submission of examination results of semester by faculty members and said that delay in results deprives candidates of jobs.
