Cutting government employees' salaries by 25 percent: PML-N strongly opposes the proposed cut

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Thursday refuted the media reports saying that the party agreed in principle to the proposal by government to apply up to 25 percent cut on the salaries of the government employees to overcome budget deficit.
In a statement released by PML-N media office here, Senator Pervaiz Rashid, who part of the PML-N team negotiating with the government on 10-point agenda, said that the PML-N strongly opposed the proposed 25 percent cut in the salaries of government employees.
Rather, he added the PML-N's team leader Senator Ishaq Dar took a very clear stance that the saving which the federal government was expecting through the proposed cut from the salaries of the government employees was too small and in fact a minimal as compared to its adverse impacts on the lives of millions of the salaried people and their dependents.
"PML-N by no means can agree to any proposals, which may increase in the sufferings of a common man," said Pervaiz Rshid and termed the media reports, as baseless and misleading. He said that the PML-N's 10-point reforms agenda was proposed to take the country out of the economic crisis and to improve the situation of a common man and it was never meant to increase in their difficulties. The PML-N leader said that the party proposed austerity and suggested to cut the wasteful expenditures of the government, the Prime Minister, federal ministers, high government officials and the parliamentarians.
