A constitutional petition was filed on Tuesday in Supreme Court, pleading to disqualify a Fata lawmaker for allegedly getting bribe to cast his vote during Senate elections in 2009. Kamal Azfar through Qari Abdul Rasheed advocate filed a petition under article 184(3)of the constitution, stating that Muhammad Kamran Khan MNA from Federally Administrative Tribal Areas (Fata) confessed in a TV talk show that he had taken millions of rupees to cast vote during Senate elections in 2009.
The petitioner maintained that the MNA had violated article 62 and 63 of the constitution and pleaded the court to disqualify him from holding any public office as he had admitted his fault. He also requested the apex court to direct Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hold fresh polls in his constituency after disqualifying the MNA. The petitioner has made Chief Election Commissioner and Kamran Khan MNA as respondents in his petition.
