Former Indian captain slams BCCI over Pak-India series

Former Indian cricket captain Bishen Singh Bedi has slammed the country’s cricketing board over politicizing cricketing relationship with Pakistan.   

“Why politicize cricket? Have you been able to wipe off terrorism by not playing cricket? Cricket is a platform to come closer,” said former Indian skipper, quoted PTI.

 The Indian government has not given any go-ahead to any Indo-Pak bilateral series since 2012, when a short limited overs series was held in India.

Since then, India and Pakistan have only met in ICC events. Their last encounter was at the ICC Champions Trophy final, where Sarfraz-led Pakistan toppled Kohli’s men to claim their first ever Champions Trophy title.

Bedi further criticized the BCCI and called for the removal of the BCCI logo worn by the Indian players. “The national logo [India flag] has to be worn by the Indian team and not the BCCI logo. I am very clear in my mind. The players are not playing for BCCI but are playing for India. New Zealand and Australia have national emblems. England has national emblem. Even Pakistan and Bangladesh wear national emblems,” he said.
