HONG KONG: Hong Kong stocks opened 1.51 percent higher on Monday after EU leaders backed a deal to save the debt-ravaged eurozone at the end of last week.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index was up 280.47 points to 18,866.7 in early trading.
A total of 26 of the 27 EU states Friday signalled their willingness to join a "new fiscal compact" to resolve the crisis threatening to crack apart the monetary union.
