HYDERABAD: The DIG Hyderabad Javed Alam Odho has claimed that the police have arrested the killer of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan's (MQM-P) local leader Dr Noshad Aijaz, who was gunned down on October 25 in Hyderabad.
Addressing a press conference along with SSP Hyderabad Peer Muhammad Shah here on Friday, the DIG identified the accused as Shahid alias Dancer.
He told that the police had been hunting Shahid and another suspect Kamran alias Karela alias Pappu since they were booked in the FIR.
On Friday the police received information that the 2 were present in American Quarters area after which a police led by DSP CIA Aslam Langha raided the locality, he added. The DIG said the alleged outlaws engaged the police in an exchange of fire during which Kamran escaped but Shahid surrendered after he ran out of ammunition.
Odho told that Shahid was also nominated in the murders of MQM's worker Saleem Inqalabi, Pyar Ali Samoo and Jehangir Khan.
The accused was nominated in at least 15 FIRs which were registered at different police stations of Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas districts since 1993, he informed.
The MQM-P's sector In-charge Aijaz, 45 years old who was a veterinary doctor by profession, was killed outside his residence in Hali Road area. According to the police, 2 assailants riding a motorbike shot him dead and escaped but they were caught on CCTV and face of one was identifiable.
