Action against cylinder violators responsibility of LEAs, PA told

KARACHI: The Sindh Assembly Friday was informed that the Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) are responsible for removing CNG cylinders installed beneath the seats in passenger vehicles. Sindh Minister for Transport Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that the LEAs, traffic police and OGRA, are onus for the action against violators.

The Sindh Assembly session, earlier, started with recitation of Holy Quran and Naat Sharif with Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani in the chair.

Replying to a question, he claimed that new buses will be on roads of Karachi by the end of this year.

"We are fully trying to bring new buses on roads by the end of this year," he claimed.

Responding to another query regarding issuance of fake fitness certificates to unfit vehicles in Karachi, he said that no one can be issued legally a fake fitness certificate.

He said that if MPAs point out any certificate in this regard then he will take action.

Replying to another question regarding pollution due to the unfit vehicles, he admitted that the reservations of members to this effect are genuine and his department is going towards outsourcing to resolve the issue.

Answering a question regarding issues fitness certificates to vehicles registered in 1960 and 1965, he said that if vehicles are able to move on roads a certificate is given.

He said, replying to a question, that the transport fares have not been raised again by the provincial government and the government lastly revised the same on March 01, 2016.

Nasir Shah to a question said that a scheme has been revised from 100 to 1000 vehicles which are going to be operated on inter-city and intra-city routes.

He said, answering another question, that 600 buses in Karachi will be operated on the defunct KTC routes under Shaheed Mohtrama Benazir Bhutto Transport Project on lease basis.
