JOHANNESBURG: South Africa's Top-40 index booked its biggest weekly gain in 10 months on Friday, rising 5.1 percent during the week on investor optimism after global central banks announced a coordinated effort to inject liquidity into markets.
The index finished down 0.6 percent at 29,187.83 on the day, but still managed its best weekly performance since early February.
