WASHINGTON: US stocks soared by 4 percent Wednesday after major central banks joined hands to ensure commercial banks would not be undermined by market worries over the eurozone crisis.
Pushed higher from the open, a sharp upward flourish in the last hour pushed the Dow Jones Industrial Average's gain to 4.16 percent at the closing bell, while the broader S&P 500 added 4.31 percent and the Nasdaq Composite surged 4.17 percent.
