SHANGHAI: China shares ended up 1.2 percent on Tuesday as a rally in global markets gave local sentiment a boost, pushing investors to seek bargains among beaten-down energy and material issues.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index closed at 2,412.4 points in moderately expanded volume, extending a 0.1 percent rise on Monday.
Oil giants PetroChina closed up 0.51 percent and Sinopec gained 1.24 percent, while top coal makers, China Shenhua Energy Co Ltd and China Coal Energy Co Ltd gained 1.32 and 2.13 percent, respectively.
