ISLAMABAD: Aitzaz Ahsan, senior counsel of the Supreme Court and leader of Pakistan Peoples Party, Friday said that there would be no divergence between the government and judiciary after rejection of a review plea over annulled National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) 2007.
Talking to mediamen here in the apex Court building, he said that the government had implemented all the judicial verdicts, though there may be delay somewhere due to certain reasons.
He said that there should be no ambiguity that government would not implement verdict on annulled National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) 2007.
Aitzaz said after a judicial decision, the implementation process vested with the government and it would decide how to proceed in this regard.
To a question, he said the office of President enjoyed constitutional immunity and ther could be no proceedings in any Court of law.
About Court's proceedings over the instant matter, he said that judicial verdicts could not be commented upon.
President Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Muhammad Yaseen Azad said that apex Court's directive in the case should be implemented.
To a question, he replied that he did not believe in perceptions and the government should be given an opportunity to implement it.
"To oversee implementation is the responsibility of Supreme Court and not of SCBA," he added.
Salman Akram Raja, counsel for Dr Mobashir Hassan, the main petitioner upon whose plea NRO was struck down, told that he did not see any detailed decision over the review as the Court had already observed in its short order that no reasons were made out for making a review.
He said the directives in the NRO verdict were now in the field and the concerned authorities would have to implement it.
He opined that the executive had the authority of withdrawing its requests made to foreign countries under international mutual assistance.
Justice retired Tariq Mehmood opined that a law was declared void and he saw no hinderance in its implementation.
