Security arrangements reviewed for Muharram

security_copyISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police in a meeting here on Monday have reviewed security arrangements for Muharram ul Harram and decided to take certain measures to make it fool proof.

Senior Superintendent of Police Islamabad, Muhammad Yousuf Malik who preside over the meeting directed to maintain close liaison with peace committees and organizers of majalis and processions.

He also directed the concerned to ensure checking of participants of majalis and processions thorough metal detectors and their enterance and exit from the walk through gates.

It was told during the meeting that Rangers and FC will also assist police to ensure elaborate security arrangements. The SSP also ordered to make proper light arrangements after negotiations with the concerned authorities and weed out bushes in the vicinity of worship places.

The SSP Muhammad Yousuf Malik also directed to set up a control room at SSP Office headed by SP (Legal) Javed Iqbal Khattak.

He also asked all SPs to take steps to curb wall chalking or pasting posters which may hurt sentiments of people.

Patrolling officers must conduct visit of all the routes of Muharram processions and Imambargahs and rooftops to be covered by the police officials.

The SSP said that lady Police should be deputed for the female gatherings while police officers and Jawans would perform security duties outside the Imambargahs.

All Station House Officers (SHOs) should get the complete bio-data of those volunteers performing security duties. The meeting was also attended by SP (Saddar) Sajid Kiani, SP (City) Muhammad Ilyas, SP (Rural) Fasial Bashir Memon, SP (Investigation) Ch. Liaqat Ali, SP (Legal) Javed Iqbal Khattak and other senior police officials.
