ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's ambassador to Washington, Hussain Haqqani, arrived in Islamabad Sunday morning to explain his position over the correspondence of alleged secret memo seeking US help against Pakistan military.
Reports say Hussain Haqqani was given the full protocol and security when he arrived at Benazir Airport and was driven with full security and protocol from the back gate of the airport to the President house where he met face to face with the President.
The ambassador would stay at the President house for security reasons.
The Ambassador would also meet the top brass of military including ISI chief Gen Ahmad Shuja Pasha and Prime Minister Yusuf Razz Gilani to clarify his position regarding the scandal.
Haqqani, who has offered to resign over the situation, but has denied the reports of his involvement, has been called by the leadership to Islamabad to explain himself.
Prior to his departure from Washington airport, Haqqani met US special representative to Pakistan and Afghanistan Marc Grossman.
On Saturday, Federal Interior Minister said Hussain Haqqani did not write the letter. However, he was involved in communication via text message with an American national, Malik said.
