WARSAW: PTC, the Polish arm of Germany's Deutsche Telekom , wants to regain its position as the largest mobile phone operator by revenues by 2012, PTC's chief executive was quoted on Saturday as saying.
PTC, which until recently was embroiled in an 11-year ownership dispute and is now firmly in the hands of Deutsche Telekom, had no immediate takeover plans, Miroslav Rakowski also told daily Gazeta Wyborcza in an interview.
"I hope that from this point of view (revenues) we will become the leader (in Poland) already this year," Rakowski said. "If we fail, then next year at the latest we'll be able to say that Era (PTC's brand) will go back to where it was."
PTC now ranks third in Poland in terms of revenues behind Polkomtel and the mobile unit of Poland's top telecoms group TPSA , in which France Telecom is a major shareholder.
