PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Barrister Masood Kausar has stressed the need to resolve the grievances of the people, hailing from oil and gas producing areas of District Karak amicably. There is a need that the oil and gas companies should work in close coordination and understanding with the respective district administrations to ensure due protection of the interests of the people; he added.
He was talking during a meeting with the representatives of OGDCL, SNGPL and MOL which are engaged exploring oil and gas in Kohat Division.
Provincial Minister for Prisons, Mian Nisar Gul Kakakhel who is also the provincial assembly from District Karak briefed the Governor about the view points of the respective people.
Provincial Secretary for Planning & Development, senior officials of the Divisional and district administration of Kohat and Karak were also present on this occasion.
The Governor further directed to expedite efforts to fully complete the gas supply project under which people of 36 villages of the District Karak were extended natural gas facility.
Similarly, he added, there is also need to give due preference to the local people for provision of job opportunities and suitable arrangement needs to chalked out for satisfaction of the respective people in this respect.
Meanwhile, the Governor was informed that the residents of a major part of District Karak have already been provided natural gas facility through more than one hundred Kilometer long pipeline. Another gas supply project, containing 14 kilometer is going to be launched within next couple of days and expected to be completed in a month while a similar project of 46 kilometers long gas pipeline is in the pipeline which is also envisaged to be completed by the end of the current financial year.
