Lowest offer at Egypt wheat tender was $185.50/T for US HRW wheat

CAIRO: The lowest offer at a purchase tender held by Egypt's state grain buyer GASC on Wednesday was $185.50 per tonne free-on-board (fob) for 55,000 tonnes of US Hard Red Winter (HRW) wheat, traders said.

The lowest offer for wheat after accounting for shipping costs was $207.18 for 60,000 tonnes of Romanian wheat, traders said.

The results of the tender are expected to be announced later on Wednesday.

GASC is seeking an unspecified amount of wheat from global suppliers for shipment from June 15-24.

The world's largest buyer of the grain said on Tuesday it was raising the required level of protein content for most origins by 0.5 percent, a move traders said would likely benefit Russian wheat while hurting French sales.
