The Awami National Party (ANP), the biggest component of the future coalition government in NWFP, on Thursday unveiled the names and portfolios of the 11 MPAs-elect, including a woman for the ministerial slot in provincial cabinet from its quota.
According to the power-sharing formula agreed between ANP and Pakistan Peoples Party, the future NWFP cabinet would comprise 21 ministers. According to the power-sharing formula, the ANP will dominate the cabinet with 60 percent share in the cabinet. The ANP, which would have 12 ministers in the cabinet, unveiled the names and portfolios of the ministers in the coalition government.
ANP parliamentary leader and senior minister Bashir Ahmad Bilour has been given the portfolio of the local government, while ANP's provincial secretary general Mian Iftikhar Hussein will head the education ministry and Aqil Shah sports and culture ministry.
The party also nominated two of its parliamentarians - Wajid Ali Khan and Mohammad Khan from the restive district of Swat - for the portfolios of forest and science and technology respectively. Sardar Hussein Babak of district Buner would get the portfolio of the information, while Nimroz Khan would head the department of auqaf. Independent MPA-elect from district Karak Mian Nisar Gul has also been included in the cabinet and has been given the portfolio of prisons.
Arabab Ayub Jan, a senior parliamentarian, would head the department of agriculture in the province with the Sitara Imran of the reserve of the seats for woman would get the portfolio of the women and social development. Khushdil Khan, another MPA-elect from the rural area of Peshawar, has been nominated as the deputy speaker.
Although the PPP, which would have nine ministers in the provincial cabinet, has not come out with any such kind of nomination. "It is too early to announce the names of the ministers of PPP in the next government," replied provincial president of the PPP Rahimdad Khan when contacted by Business Recorder.
He said that the power-sharing formula had already been sent to PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, saying that the coordination committee for holding negotiations with the coalition partner would also meet the party leader at Zardari House, Islamabad, on Friday.
He said that that PPP would prepare the list of its probable ministers after summoning of the session of the provincial assembly as in first instance, the assembly would have to elect speaker, which would be followed by other requirements of the formation of the government in the province.
