CAIRO: Egypt has procured 500,000 tonnes of wheat from farmers since the start of its harvest, which began in mid-April, Supply Minister Ali Moselhy said at a news conference on Thursday.
Moselhy has said he expects to buy about 3.8 million tonnes from local farmers during the harvest, which runs through July.
