ISLAMABAD: Former ambassador Mushtaq Mehar has said that Istanbul conference is very important with regard to Afghan issue.
Talking to Radio Pakistan, he said Pakistan wanted intra-Afghan dialogue before any ultimate solution of the issue under international framework.
He said international framework will not be feasible before an agreement among Afghan ethnic factions.
Replying to a question about 27 member foreign ministers' conference on the sideline of Istanbul tripartite summit, he said all participants of the conference may not contribute in solution of the issue.
He opined Afghan ethnic groups especially Taliban should have been invited in the conference, but they were not given any presentation, which is one flaw of the conference.
He said the efforts were underway to keep Pakistan at distance from the solution of Afghan issue as they do not want Pakistan's dominating role in Afghanistan like post Russian withdrawal era.
